How Being a Time Snob Can Chill You Out Big Time!

A Time Snob looks down on most of your obligations.

Lots of the time your obligations are just sentences you are telling yourself in your mind, appearing to be reality, until otherwise put in check. Under further investigation many of your obligations aren’t even obligations. And even if they are, you are always choosing them, to do them, or not to.

Thinking of your job, spending time with your partner, and paying taxes as an obligation kills all the joy and takes away your potency.

If you’re doing these things you're choosing to. You don’t have to, in fact many people don’t. So, give yourself the credit. Have you noticed that as a human being you do much better when you get to choose what you want to do, rather than being bossed and bullied by your inner “Wonder Woman,” who tells you that all this crapola is actually necessary?

Listen to your inner time snob when it comes to your current list of obligations.

Your inner time snob sticks her nose in the air and says, “REALLY, are you sure that’s an obligation?” With a snooty judgmental look on her face. You want to argue with her but deep down you know she is right.

Your inner time snob will make you think twice about how you could be wasting your time and call your bluff.

At first you view her as a bully, but when you look deep into her crystal-clear eyes you can see her benevolence. If you embrace her she can take you from frazzled to fabulous in 0-60 baby. Think Tesla style. You need her.

How you spend your time and energy is a direct reflection of the quality of your life.

Allow your inner time snob to show you what’s necessary and what’s wasting your precious time. It’s one of the most ultimate forms of self-love you can experience.

In life, it’s all the little experiences that add up to the big ones, right? Hours turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks turn into years, and then decades, and then poof there’s your life!

As my French teacher would say, Pas de Panique! Don’t Panic my friends.

I don’t want you to waste anymore of your time on things that don’t really matter to you.

You can do better than that, we all can. I’ve been there and done that, AND to the point of burnout. And let me tell ya, it wasn’t pretty. That’s why I am passionate about being your busyaholic coach. I want you to look back when you are 90-years-old and say, “dang, I sure lived it.”

I don’t want you to waste time just surviving, I want you to thrive.

Pause whatever you are doing and answer these question for the love of Buddha woman. You can do it out loud, on your smartphone or on paper. You might be surprised in a good way.

So, let’s get you clear about time. Ask yourself these questions. If I wasn't busy all the time:

What might I desire to do with my free time? List your top 3 things.

What would I do for sure that I’ve been putting off? List your top 3 things.

How would my life look differently? List your top 3 things.

If I had to cross off 5 things that I currently do, that I really don’t HAVE to do, and don't really WANT to do, what would they be?

For a little inspiration, here's 5 things I’ve personally identified as my time wasters:

I’ve stopped caring what other people think about me, deep down.

I no longer feel that my house needs to be perfectly pristine to get work done. I’ve found this is usually procrastination anyway. I value a clean and tidy home, but I don’t let it stop me.

I don’t let me phone be the boss of me. I return calls, emails and texts at certain time that work for me during the day.

I say no, when I mean no. I know it does no good for me or the other person involved when I say yes when I mean no.

I listen to my body. If it’s tired I rest. This is a hard one, and still challenging. My mind usually wants to do waaaaaay more than my body, and that’s ok.

I’m not perfect at not wasting my time, and neither will you be.

On any given day, I’ve realized I’ve done 3 out of the 5 things listed here. But perfection is not the point. It’s practice, awareness and recommitment that really makes a difference. So, go easy on yourself. Be kind. Create more time, by continuously taking an inventory of your time wasters and your real desires.

I'd love to hear about what you find out for yourself. Email me and let me know!

Go with this, know that in this moment there is plenty of time. In this moment, you are precisely as you should be. In this moment, there are infinite possibilities.
